Medical Services: There is a Branch Health Clinic that is available on this base that provides a variety of medical services for military personnel and their family members. The Branch Health Clinic provides primary health care. Besides this there is also a Dental Clinic (540-653-8564) on base that provides dental services and oral care to patients. TRICARE enrollment is compulsory for all military personnel and their family members in order to avail of medical services. History

In the year 1918 NSF Dahlgren was originally established as the Naval Proving Ground. In the year 2005, the host command for NSF Dahlgren was established as a component of Naval District Washington. This host command is known as the Naval Support Activity South Potomac (NSASP). Shore installation management services for NSF Indian Head, MD as well as NSF Dahlgren are currently provided by NSASP.

Housing

Dahlgren Housing on this base is privatized. Lincoln Military Housing takes care of constructions, repairs, renovations and maintenance of base housing. Besides this a military officer and his family can also chose to live in the local community. Rental apartments are available in abundance in the local community.  Single military personnel are expected to live in unaccompanied housing units. These housing units come pre-equipped with washers, dryers, kitchens and bedrooms. Temporary lodging is available for military personnel and their family members.
