History

During the World War II, the Martindale Army Airfield Army Base was built. The Martindale Army Airfield Army Base serves as the support field to the Randolph Army airfield. It served as one of the 8 satellite airfields to support the Randolph Army Airfield in San Antonio, Texas. After the World War II, the Martindale Army Airfield Army Base continued to operate as an Army Air Corps flight training facility. In addition, it became readily available as a commercial air facility.

In the year 1983, the Martindale Army Airfield Army Base was abandoned by the military force of United States.  Few years after its abandonment, the Texas Army National Guard claimed the airfield. From then on, the Martindale Army Airfield Army Base was used as a rotary wing flight training facility. In the year 1996, the Martindale Army Airfield Army Base had undergone several renovations to repair the damaged runways. There are several helicopter pads that were built over the previous runways and overgrowth.

The Martindale Army Airfield Army Base continues to operate under the direct supervision of the Texas National Guard. It also serves as an impromptu training facility for the members of Texas National Guard troops. It has two paved runways, wide ramp areas, several buildings, and a taxiway.
