History

On the 1st of July 1954 the Air Research and Development Command's Western Development Division was activated. The Los Angeles Air Force Base traces its history back to this very activation. On the 10th of April 1964 the property was finally designated as the Los Angeles Air Force Base.

Housing

Tierra Vista Community owns the privatized family housing at Los Angeles Air Force Base. Tierra Vista community is in charge of handling repairs, management, maintenance and construction of the community. Tierra Vista Community housing is an alternate option to renting or purchasing a house within the local community. Military personnel need to sign a lease agreement with Tierra Vista Community if they wish to live in privatized housing. The Tierra Vista Community has a variety of amenities within its premises. Some of these amenities include an Olympic style swimming pool, tennis courts, community center, walking trails and various other interesting recreational facilities.
