History

The location of the Integrated Support Command Alameda Coast Guard Base is a 67- acre island that is situated in the historic Brooklyn Basin or the Embarcadero Cove. Its location is an artificial island that was formed by the dredging project in 1913 that extended from the Oakland Estuary to the San Leandro Bay. In the year 1933, the location and the base itself underwent massive improvements. The streets, spur tracks, a transformer station, and the existing wharves are renovated and improved.
